February 1 - 8:00 pm till 11:00 pm
English Rain Sheffield are back down at The Washington every other Thursday from the start of February for our FREE ENTRY showcases. Join us on Thursday 1st February for a punk-rock masterclass with one of our favourite bands on the Sheffield scene, Black Mamba Fever. This will go off!
★ Black Mamba Fever ★
“Theres a whiff of The Cramps, Television, Gang of Four and their post-punk ilk about Sheffield indie rockers Black Mamba Fever, but they manage to create a sound all of their own, wiry muscular guitars and the dark baritone of Louis Ashman draped all over a melodies that stick in your mind.”
“‘There’s something so nonchalant, so blasé, about the track’s punky, raucous sound; ‘Feeling The Strain’ is the debut of a band who aren’t trying to be cool: they actually are.” Gigslutz, tracks of the week
“With an edge of Television, Modern Lovers, The Cramps and a bit of Pavement, they bring home the rock ‘n’ roll, with Louis Ashman’s vocals pummeled over the top. Seriously impressive debut.” **** Little Indie Blogs
“With some serious reference points in the likes of the Cramps and Jonathan Richman, Feeling The Strain could be the sort of thing Alex Turner got all misty eyed about before he disappeared up Josh Homme’s exhaust pipe.” Louder Than War
